If taking a Mat Class for the first time you should:
~ Arrive early to class to allow time for relaxation and stretching
~ Identify yourself to the Instructor(s) as a new participant
~ Wear comfortable fitting clothing and no shoes
~ Expect helpful specific feedback and correction on exercise form
~ Expect the Instructor(s) to move around and actively supervise the class
~ Be sure to drink plenty of water after class
~ Inform the Instructor of any changes to your health status or any newly acquired injury
~ Best to not eat within one hour before class time
Points to Remember during your session:
~ Work at your own level, this is not a competition
~ Move slowly and deliberately
~ Always listen to your body, all movements can be modified so it feels right for you
~ Breathe smoothly and continously as you move and stretch
~ Ask for clarification if you are unsure of how to perform a movement
Most important ... relax and enjoy!
